ISLAMABAD: The government is forming the federal cabinet today (Monday) amid uncertainty whether Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) will become a part of it or abstain over a “disagreement” about the distribution of ministries.
According to sources, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s consultation with the ruling coalition parties has been completed and the swearing in of the first phase is expected today.
According to sources, Maryam Aurangzeb will be the Information Minister and Muftah Ismail will be the Finance Minister from PML-N. The Foreign Ministry will be under PPP.
The Ministry of Home Affairs, Planning and Development, Energy, Commerce, Establishment, Cabinet, National Security, Inter-Provincial Coordination, Law and Justice, Parliamentary Affairs will also come under PML-N while the names of the Ministers will be given later.
Similarly, the PPP will get Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Water Resources, Health, Human Rights, Education, Climate Change, Communications, Industries and Production, Benazir Income Support Program. Amir Haider Hoti and Shazin Bugti will also be ministers. The JUI will get the Ministry of Housing and Works and Religious Affairs while Deputy Speaker will be the Ms Shahida.
The MQM will get the ministries of maritime affairs and information technology, while the Balochistan Awami Party will get the ministry of defense production. The BNB Mengal Group will also get a ministry. In the first phase, swearing in is expected today.
