PESHAWAR: It has been decided to outsource cleaning and garbage disposal services in major cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Mahmood Khan has directed to prepare a plan of action and submit it for approval.
The Chief Minister gave these instructions while presiding over a meeting held at the Divisional Headquarters, Abbottabad on Thursday to review the progress on various development projects and measures for resolving public issues.
Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Mehmood Khan has termed timely completion of development projects as an important part of his government’s priorities and directed the concerned authorities to ensure practical progress on these public welfare projects as per timelines. In this regard, all the concerned departments, agencies and local administrations should fulfill their respective responsibilities in a timely manner so that these projects can be completed within the stipulated time and the people can benefit from the fruits of these projects without any delay.
He clarified that unnecessary delay or negligence in the completion of development projects would not be tolerated in any case and in this case strict action would not be spared against the responsible persons.
The Chief Minister directed the Local Bodies Department to improve the sanitation and waste disposal in the major cities of the province and to outsource the services of outsourcing the sanitation and waste disposal services in the major cities of the province including Abbottabad. Process should be prepared and submitted for approval so that sanitation issues in major cities can be improved to the required standard.
Apart from Speaker Provincial Assembly Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, administrative secretaries of relevant departments, Commissioner Hazara, Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad and other concerned officials attended the meeting.
Briefing the meeting regarding the upgradation of District Headquarters Hospital Abbottabad, it was informed that the said hospital has been upgraded from Category B to Category A and a plan for construction of new hospital building has also been approved.
The Chief Minister directed to resolve the land issue on priority basis for setting up of a multi-purpose indoor gymnasium in Abbottabad while a summary for purchase of land for relocation of General Bus Stand and Sabzi Mandi out of the city would be submitted soon.
The Chief Minister directed the Irrigation Department and Commissioner Hazara to take necessary steps for immediate rehabilitation of main drain in Abbottabad Cantt while continuing the progress on the long term plan of the project. Similarly, the Chief Minister directed to take immediate steps through the district administration and traffic police under the short term measure to solve the traffic problems in Abbottabad.
Briefing the meeting about the progress of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement Project Abbottabad, it was informed that the total estimated cost of the project is more than Rs. 12 billion.
Key features of the project include Lime Water Treatment Plant, Gravity Water Supply Scheme, Integrated Solid Waste Management System, Development of Ad Venture Family Park, Relocation of Old Dumping Site to Park and other measures.
Under the project, construction of green spaces and parks will be completed soon while the rest of the project will be completed in three years. Under the scheme, modern procedures will be adopted for disposal of solid waste.
